These black soybeans are made from Tanba Black soybeans, one of the finest and largest soybean varieties in Japan. While sourced domestically from multiple regions within Japan, the variety itself is strictly managed to ensure consistent quality, texture, and aroma.
Tanba Black soybeans are valued for their plump texture, gentle sweetness, and rich fragrance. Because the variety is carefully controlled at the seed level, differences in growing region do not result in noticeable differences in taste. In recent years, the supply of high quality black soybeans has declined nationwide, making careful selection and sorting increasingly important.

In Japan, simmered black soybeans are most commonly enjoyed as part of osechi cuisine for the New Year, symbolizing health, longevity, and diligence. This preparation has long been regarded as an auspicious and meaningful tradition.
After thawing, the product can be served directly without further preparation. It is suitable for Japanese appetizers, bento items, or as a side dish in course meals. The sweetness is restrained and the finish is light, allowing it to pair easily with other dishes.
